Coachella day three is officially in the books, and judging by all the show stopping performances and epic surprise collaborations on Sunday night from Bad Bunny to Khalid and Ariana Grande, I would say weekend one of Coachella 2019 was definitely a success. Bad Bunny brought out J Balvin during his late afternoon set and delivered a high-energy version of “I Like It,” sans Cardi B. The singer rocked the stage wearing a rainbow Louis Vuitton outfit and visor-like sunglasses and fans were super into his set, wearing fuzzy bunny ears, raising flags from across Latin America and of course throwing their pinkies to the air – a nod to Bad Bunny’s trademark gesture. The singer also performed his mega hit collab with Drake, “MIA” and a handful of tracks off his latest album. Khalid had a lot to celebrate last night. First making his Coachella debut and then by scoring a Billboard 200 No. 1 album for his latest release, Free Spirit. He commemorated the night by bringing out a landslide of collaborators to the Coachella stage including Billie Eilish to perform their haunting team-up “Lovely,” Halsey and Benny Blanco for “Eastside,” Normani for “Love Lies” and even Marshmello for “Silence” proving the power that collaboration has had on Khalid’s skyrocketing career. And of course, Ariana Grande closed out the night and brought #Arichella to life. The pop singer also had some all-star collabs in store, tapping Nicki Minaj, P Diddy and Mase for her headlining set. But in what was probably one of the biggest surprise collaborations of the weekend, Ari brought out 90’s boy band legend *NSYNC onto the stage for a rendition of “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” from the band’s self-titled 1997 debut album. Now Ari, a lover of all things 90’s, seemed pretty stoked to say the least, introducing the group to the stage saying she’d been rehearsing her entire life for this moment. And I’d say she definitely didn’t disappoint, making this a pop moment for the ages. Elsewhere, Zedd gave a pyro-filled performance and became one of the biggest singalongs of the day, running through hits like “I Want You to Know,” “The Middle” and “Clarity” and bringing out Katy Perry to perform their latest collaboration “365” and Grammy-winner H.E.R. was crooning the coachella crowd giving us all the feels as she sang lovesick ballads like “Focus” and “Best Part.” For your full Coachella day three roundup head on over to billboard.com and until next time for Billboard News, I’m Neha Joy.
