  35. hip hop at its finest

  36. French Montana and his fans made 895 accounts

  37. I'm embarrassingly late to the party when it comes to diving into The Roots. Growing up I was always more into the alternative rock music of the time (RHCP, Radiohead, etc.) and while I always appreciated rap- and even went deep with some artists-, it was never my main focus. I'd known about The Roots for well over a decade, but never gave their stuff a listen for whatever reason. After I saw they became The Tonight Show Band any interest I may have had in them (which was already very low) just became non-existent, because for some reason I always viewed late show bands as novelty acts. Stupid, I know. But now, all these years later, I've finally discovered them for myself and they've honestly become one of my all-time favourite hip-hop acts. It was largely Quest's encyclopedic knowledge and immense passion during his Nardwuar interviews that made me want check them out- and after I did I was instantly hooked. They take the best of classic hip-hop and mend it with their own unique twist. Artists of the highest order- I'm kicking myself for not doing a deep dive sooner…
